Antarctica

My first view of Antarctica was off the bow of the Viking Polaris. Ice stretched almost endlessly in front of me. The smooth snow dripping off the landscape was interrupted by inky black rocks on distant peaks and blues from ancient glaciers floating before me. The only sound was the incessant wind snapping the flag on the bow of our ship. I had dreamed of this moment for almost a year - standing at the world's end, ready to capture its untouched magnificence. And yet, photographing ice climbing in Alaska glaciers and moss-covered volcanoes in Iceland still did not prepare me for this experience, and reflecting back, I doubt anything would.

More to come, work in progress! I am still culling over 4,000 images from 2 weeks in Antarctica. Keep checking back!
